One site we found that helped us is JogTunes.com, a site cataloging BPM (beats per minute) rated label and indie music. If you're looking for upbeat songs to run or ride to, this is a great place to go. The site's founder, Dr. Bob, also has a podcast devoted to great indie music to exercise to.
